Experiences shared by students from:
London Weekend Course
- May 2019
"The London weekend sparring course represented for me and my son a huge opportunity to train under Grandmaster Loh's supervision and also the chance to bond with our other colleagues from the TTA clubs across England. I was really happy to discover a few new training exercises and to see my son showing interest and building confidence while listening to Grandmaster Loh’s explanations.
A few defending and blocking technics were explained step by step which helped me and my son understand better the purpose of them and how to apply them when you find yourself in a difficult situation. When it comes to sparring I learned how important it is to know how to control your breathing properly and to focus more on your target and not so much on brut force. I would like to thank to Grandmaster Loh and Dr. Lew for this training opportunity and looking forward to the next one." - Lucian
I've enjoyed the applications for Poomsae practice, for all forms and more - like head lock, arm lock - what to do in real life when facing threats. Taekwondo gives you the skills to be always prepared and to have a clear mind of the world around you and how to develop yourself in everyday life. " - Andreia
What I like most was the head lock and that nobody can strangle me, cause I know what I have to do to defend myself.
I had a good time with fellow students and that Grandmaster Loh help me out at times to be faster with my kicks. Grandmaster Loh also told me that I have to be strong during Poomsae practice and to stand up straight in my finish position.
It was great to be with so many people that are concentrated on the same thing - to get better with their own journey in Taekwondo." - Teodor
It was good to pair up with other students who were not part of Sussex and share experiences.
I personally asked for feedback from my fellow students in London on my kicks who provided insightful/useful information in developing my kicks for example reverse kick.
Grandmaster Loh teaches precision and accuracy. Being chosen to perform a basic back kick was daunting at first (in-front of other students) However a simple correction and practice and I soon realised the correct form! I also realised to be chosen to perform in front of other students is a actually a gift to learn and develop not only for me but for others.
I was most thankful for the experience. I will continue to develop basic form to a higher level to enable an efficient strike or block. - Amar
